Drum roll please.....I'm proud to say that bouncing wall finally got a retail space! The upper Queen Anne space is finally mine and I feel like I won a contest because I beat out over 150 people to get it. . Now that the good news is here, my mind is flooded with the details I have to take care of.

Sooo question...anyone have a good reference for a property attorny and/or a building contractor who's licensed, permitted and bonded that could start a project in the next 2 weeks? Help!! Thanks all!

Opportunity to Sell Stuff

Hey girls,
A friend of mine that I used to row with passed on an opportunity to rent a tent at this year's National Regatta at Greenlake. She was interested in me selling artwork, but then I thought what a perfect opportunity it would be to sell Petaline stuff.
The tents are spendy - the costs range from 10x10 tent w/sides (2 tables/2 chairs) for $600/4 days, a 10x20 tent w/sides (3 tables/2chairs)for $850/4 days, or bringing your own 10x10 or 10x20 tent for $450/$650 (4 days) (they'll provide tables/chairs). That breaks down to (depending on size of tent) about $112/day - $212/day.
BUT you can share the tent with maybe 1-3 other people? If it was a smaller tent it might be tight with 4 people. Also, I think Leslie is up for renting for only one day, if she can find people to rent it the rest of the weekend.
I would like to only do one day myself, and sharing, so I only had to pay like $50 or less.
But maybe some of you might be interested? The dates are Aug 10th-13th.
The benefits - the National Regatta is not here every year, so you have a ton of people from around the nation wanting to by stuff (there's lot's of down time between races). It's also at Greenlake, so you have all the Greenlake people. So there's a lot of people.
I'm interested in going to just spread the word of Petaline (and of course to sell stuff would be great too).

Hey ladies. I was looking around Persnkickity Designs: persnickitydesign.com (Karin & Alison...if you haven't found these guys yet, they are from Bellingham and makes cool purses)and they advertized that they had a newweb designer so I went to check it out. They used the services of Camille Pietralunga:pietraweb.com and she specializes in designing websites for women-owned businesses. I thought it was great and wanted to share it with you guys to keep the girl power alive and provide business opportunities to others supporting women like us. I know we're getting a class on our next meeting but incase anyone was looking to get a professional designer, she maybe worthwhile checking out.

Just an addendum onto Karen's post about stamps:
You can also make your own stamps at Cafe Press! I'm playing around with opening a little cafe press store for my art, and Ali and I are going to do a Petaline Cafe press store as well, and they just added stamps on there too!
In case you have no idea what I'm talking about, Cafe Press is a website where you can upload your own artwork and they'll put it on mugs, clothes, bags, and all kind of merchandise. You can either do it for yourself, buys some other person's stuff, or set up your own store.
Also, I just updated my website - I have a new and improved portfolio, and I'm slowly but surely creating an etsy store as well.

hello laides...

quick updates for you curious georges about what's been going on with bouncing wall since our last meeting. Not bad for my first week away from corporate land. it's so much easier to get things done when you're not stuck 10 hours a day doing other people's work!

got my master business licence UBI - not as hard as i thought it would be - i realized though that i said that i wouldn't have an employee for the first 90 days but i think i should have listed myself? anyone know?
got my IRS identification EIN - quick and easy to get online
started my business bank account - about freaked out while going through the process infront of my personal banker - it really hit me that i am starting my own business!
got my business cards ordered - thanks karin!!
sent in my application for the space on upper queen anne - keep your fingers crossed for me! hopefully i'll find out by mid next week.

cross-marketing started - my friend kate with kate block massage therapy will be using $10 gift certificates to bouncing wall to thank her customers who sent a referal to her. she really like the idea because, it's free for her, but thanks her customers. it's good for me because if they don't use it, no cost...but if they do use it, it's another customer for me. anyone else who maybe interested in this let me know and i'll give you kate's contact info.

business plan almost done - big thanks to jay for being my business coach! i'm almost done with the financials and market study than it'll be all done!

Karen Laurie - where can we find info on making the personalized postage stamps you told us about?

Here's a blogging tip I just figured out - I'm sure all you smarties already know this... you can make comments on a post (where is says comments). If you want to put up a new post, you do that via "create post". I thought that when I made comments on Karin's post, it would post right under hers. It doesn't-- it's in the comment section right at the end of her post. In other words, comments and posts are two different things. Perhaps I'm really showing my amateur blogging capabilities, but I thought I'd post it in case anyone else had the same issue.
